Roslyn-based DayPlanIt is a 2014 recipient of the prestigious Long Island Software Award and Long Island StartUp Award (LISA-LISA). The ceremony took place last Wednesday, May 7 at the Garden City Hotel, Garden City.
For the first time, the Long Island Software and Technology Network (LISTnet) and LaunchPad Long Island are including tech startups as honorees. DayPlantIt is one of those firms.
According to Ken Fabricant, DayPlanIt’s founder and CEO, the company makes it easy to post, search and share activities, events and classes. The site’s members include local and national businesses and organizations, such as Hofstra University Continuing Education, the 92nd Street Y and Barnes and Noble.
Fabricant was inspired to start up the company after he felt unable to easily find activities for his family. And so, he created a new events-based website that would take advantage of technology and big data.
Fabricant said that the DayPlanIt team is especially honored to receive this award since the company is based in Long Island and inspired by the needs of local community members.
ìWe are so proud to be included with such an accomplished and substantial group of startups and software companies,î he said. ìWe’re very excited to receive this award.”
