Snowstorm: 6-8 Inches, More Coming

snowtotalsLong Island got hit with 6 to 8 inches of snow Monday and it’s not over yet.

Following 50-degree temperatures Sunday, the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Winter Storm Warning for Long Island beginning at 5 a.m. Monday and it has been snowing steadily in most areas ever since. The snow should taper off by 7 p.m.

The NWS has also issued another weather alert for Nassau County beginning late Tuesday night and lasting through Wednesday afternoon,when another 3 to 7 inches of snow is expected to hit our area.

Snow is expected Tuesday night, according to the NWS, which will turn to sleet and freezing rain Wednesday morning.
