New Speed Limit For Roslyn Road


Lawmakers continue to battle the traffic situation on Roslyn Road.

At a recent Town of North Hempstead meeting, the council, according to published reports, voted to set a 30 mph speed limit from the north curb line of I.U. Willets Road to the west side from the Long Island Expressway north Service Road. Councilman Peter Zuckerman who represents the Roslyn area on the town council sponsored the bill.

Roslyn Road has also seen the establishment of electronic speed limit signs reminding drivers on exactly how fast they are driving. There has also been a sign alerting of the intersection with Roslyn Road and Locust Lane.

trafficThe recent flurry of action is due to two fatal accidents, which have taken place on Roslyn Road this past year alone, one in March and the other, the next month in April.

Also according to published reports, Nassau County Legislator Judy Jacobs (D – Woodbury) is pushing for a traffic light at Roslyn Road and Locust Lane, the intersection where one of the fatalities took place.
