rosAn extensively renovated baseball field recently opened at the Mitchel Field Athletic Complex in Uniondale as a result of a public-private partnership between Nassau County and Molloy College.

The 20-year licensing agreement gives the Rockville Centre-based college use of the NCAA-regulation field in exchange for the funds to replace the field’s infrastructure. The new baseball field features all-weather artificial turf, new dugouts and a new scoreboard.

In addition to Molloy College athletes, Nassau residents and athletic groups will use the field throughout the year.

“This is a smart partnership that establishes a top baseball facility in Nassau County,” said Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano. “Our local sports organizations and indeed, all the residents of Nassau County, are gaining a first-class field at no cost to the taxpayers.”
