LibraryBOT_032415Spring is here and that means
that prom season is upon us, too.
In an effort to make it a fun season for young people in Nassau County, The Long Island Volunteer Center, working in conjunction with Nassau Community College Marketing & Fashion students, will be collecting new and gently-used prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses and accessories for the 21st Annual Prom Boutique.

Once again, the Roslyn-based Junior League of Long Island Thrift Shop will be home to a collection site. Local residents can drop off prom dresses at the shop at regular store hours, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday,
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from now until Friday, April 10.

The shop is at 1395 Old Northern Blvd. Call 516-484-0485.

All dresses and accessories will
be distributed free of charge to
girls of families across Long Island who cannot easily absorb the expense of a new gown for their prom, awards ceremony or graduation. High school guidance counselors, at-risk youth agencies, group homes and church outreaches make the program available to
their constituents.

For more information, contact prom@longislandvolunteercenter.org or the Long Island Volunteer Center at 516-564-5482, www.longisland volunteercenter.org.
