Kafri_11316AOn Sunday, Jan. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m., Jake Kafri, a sixth grader at Roslyn Middle School is organizing a “Jump with Jake” fundraiser at BOUNCE! in Syosset. Kafri is the son of Yariv Kafria, a Roslyn resident who is recovering from a rare form of advanced lung cancer.

Kafri delivered the following statement on the event and its purpose.

“My name is Jake Kafri. My dad, a lifelong athlete who never smoked, was diagnosed with a rare form of advanced lung cancer two years ago. It has been very scary for me and I want to help fight this disease.

“I am organizing a fundraiser to support groundbreaking research at Massachusetts General Hospital. His doctor, Dr. Alice Shaw and her team have made incredible breakthroughs in treating the rare cancer my dad has but more research is needed.

“Please help make a difference in our lives and have fun while doing it by joining me at Bounce. The proceeds we generate will go directly to researching treatments for my dad and people like him who are fighting cancer.

“Please spread the word. All are welcome. Let’s jump for a cure!”

BOUNCE! is at 310 Michael Dr, Syosset. Call 516-762-1300. Tickets are $25. They are available at the door or by loging onto https://goo.gl/n7iyhW.
