Later this month, from Monday, Aug. 25 through Friday, Aug. 29, A Class Act NY will come to East Hills to offer an array of acting classes at the Sid Jacobson JCC. All classes will take place from 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
The program is for students ages 7 to 17. Classes will be split up by age. All skill levels will be taught.
Broadway star, Sarah Amengual (Maria in West Side Story) and music director, Kevin Winebold will be the directors in the five-day Broadway camp. Amengual has also appeared in such classics as Les Miserables, Parade and Rent.
Now, in its eighth summer, Camp A.C.A. has become an unforgettable opportunity for any child who expresses an interest in the performing arts.
Campers take workshops with many different Broadway performers throughout the week in Musical Theatre Audition Technique, Broadway Dance, Stage Combat, Stage Make-Up, Intro to Shakespeare, On-Camera Acting and Vocal Training.
On Wednesday, Aug. 27, campers are taken to a Broadway matinee of Matilda and enjoy a talk back with actors after the show.
Off-Broadway Debut:
At the end of this jam-packed week, campers make their Off-Broadway debut in a musical revue for family and friends at the JCC’s state-of-the-art 200-seat house.
Each camper is allotted three complimentary seats to the Showcase and are given a camp T-shirt Cost is 695 members/770 non-members.
