Roslyn residents looking for a meaningful way to commemorate the 9-11 anniversary are invited to attend the September 11 Candlelight Memorial Service at 8 p.m. in Mary Jane Davies Park on Plandome Rd. in Manhasset.

Bring a candle and join fellow Long Islanders for a service of remembrance and hope. This service is sponsored by local clergy. For further information call Rev. Jimmy Only at The Congregational Church UCC, 516-627-4911. In case of rain, the service will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Northern Boulevard.

The first service of this type was held on Sept. 15, 2001, only a few days after 9-11. Since that first gathering in 2001, local clergy have sponsored a 9/11 Candlelight Memorial Service every September 11 to remember those who died that tragic day and to pray for peace. In keeping with the central focus of that first service and every 9/11 service since, attendees will be invited to the microphone to speak the names of loved ones who perished on Sept. 11, 2001.
